SSAT考試是美國、加拿大(Secondary School Admission Test)等國私立中學的非常重要的入學考試，即為美國中學入學考試。由美國、加拿大等國私立學校自行選用。SSAT包含語文、數(shù)學、閱讀和作文四大部分。其中作文部分不評分(部分學校錄取時會參考此項分數(shù))，其余部分所有的選擇題，每做對一題得1分，做錯一題扣1/4分，放棄得0分。由于分數(shù)只和做對的題數(shù)以及做錯的題數(shù)相關，所以懂得適當?shù)姆艞墸彩且环N智慧。高級SSAT針對的是在讀8-11年級考生，各部分的等級分介于500～800分之間，總分最低分為1500(即1500為起點分)，最高分2400。

那么SSAT的分數(shù)是否是越高越好呢?答案是：不一定。其實SSAT成績單中有一項叫做“SSAT percentile”，即：SSAT百分比，才是各個美國高中錄取一個學生的關鍵。那什么是SSAT百分比呢?它有什么樣的含義呢?我們先來看一張學生的成績單：

What Does My SSAT Percentile Mean?

Your SSAT percentile is a score between 1 and 99. Your score compares your

performance on the test to the performances of the other students of the same

grade and gender who have taken the SSAT within the past three years. For

example, if seventh-grader Sue Smith received a 65 SSAT percentile, she did as

well as or better than 65% of the other 7th grade girls who took the SSAT in the

past three years.

千萬不要看見總分高低就沾沾自喜或是黯然神傷，而是應該看看你的SSAT百分比后再為擇校做打算。SSAT百分比其實就是該學生與近三年來全球所有同年齡同性別的其他考生相比處在哪個位置，百分比越高越是說明他/她的拔尖(1%-99%)。如這張成績單所示，大家可能以為過了2000是個較好的分數(shù)，事實不然，她的SSAT百分比只有48%，這意味著她與這3年里同年齡同性別的考生相比，她的分數(shù)只比48%的人靠前。同樣一個2000分可能8年級(男/女)和10年級(男/女)考的百分比會相差甚遠。對于美國優(yōu)秀的私立高中而言，一般要求SSAT百分比不得低于60%，有些甚至不得低于85%。相反，有時候有個學生的總分只有1900，但是TA的SSAT百分比確可高達70%以上。
